Cooperation between Georgia and Turkey in the transport and logistics sectors

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbay.

The parties discussed the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the transport and logistics sectors. The importance of the full-fledged launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway for the further development of the Middle Corridor was emphasized.

Tamar Ioseliani provided the Turkish Ambassador with information about major transport and infrastructure projects, the launch of which will increase the throughput capacity of the transport corridor passing through the territory of Georgia and contribute to the development of our country as a transport hub. Special attention was paid to the modernization of the Georgian Railways, including the renewal of the rolling stock and locomotives, with which the Georgian Railways will transport cargo faster, safer and more reliably.

The meeting was attended by Lasha Abashidze, Director General of Georgian Railways.
