The share of the transport and warehousing sector in GDP is within 6%

According to a study by Galt & Taggart, the transport and warehousing sector in Georgia continues to grow steadily. Despite the growth, the investment bank's study states that the share of the transport and warehousing sector in GDP is stable within 6-7%, which lags behind the indicators of developed logistics hubs.

The share in GDP is distributed as follows by year:

In 2019 - 6.6%;
In 2020 - 6%;
In 2021 - 6.1%;
In 2022 - 6.5%;
In 2023 - 6.1%;
In 2024 - 6.3%;
In 2025 - 6.1%).

As for other data, the transport and warehousing sector in Georgia continues to grow. According to the forecast for 2025, the sector's turnover reached 11.4 billion GEL, which is 9% more than the previous year's figure (10.5 billion GEL). For comparison, in 2019, the sector's turnover was 5.8 billion GEL, in 2020 - 5.5 billion GEL, in 2021 - 7 billion GEL, in 2022 - 9.3 billion GEL, and in 2023 - 9.4 billion GEL.

According to last year's data, the largest share of turnover falls on Tbilisi (66%), followed by Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (15%), Adjara (9%), Imereti (3%), and other regions (7%).

In parallel with the increase in turnover, the growth rate of warehouse supply in Tbilisi also increased. If in 2014-2024 the annual increase was on average 35 thousand sq m, in 2024-2027 it is expected to be 180 thousand sq m annually. The total supply of warehouses in Tbilisi increased from 0.74 million sq m in 2014 to 1.26 million sq m in 2025, and by 2027 it is forecasted to be 1.65 million sq m.

By district, by 2027 the largest volume will be concentrated in Samgori (829 thousand sq m), followed by Tbilisi suburbs (189 thousand sq m), Gldani (186 thousand sq m), Nadzaladevi (134 thousand sq m), Didube (101 thousand sq m), Isani (80 thousand sq m), Ponichala (78 thousand sq m) and other districts (50 thousand sq m). Despite this, Tbilisi’s per capita supply of warehouses still lags behind European cities.

The sharp increase in demand has led to a significant increase in warehouse rental prices. The weighted average monthly rent ($/sq m, excluding VAT) in Tbilisi increased from $2.6 in 2019 to $6.3 in 2025.
